LIVE PERFORMANCE ART

We love a LIVE audience!!!

Tanya Lee has provided over two decades of live performance opportunities for Alberta residents through Body Art Motion professional shows, educational programs, mentorships, and student showcase events.

BAM offers 2 different types of live performance experiences:
1. Signature Student Shows take place twice each year and showcase pieces that have been developed in the classroom over a 3 month semester.
2. Professional Team available for hire and specializes in vintage-circus style theatrical cabaret, fire shows, and live accompaniment for musicians.

STUDENT SHOWCASES

Our student showcases are the pulse of our school.  We take pride in curating special evenings twice/year for community connection and celebration to mark goals achieved!  There is something inherently human in exposing our vulnerabilities through sourcing the courage to express ourselves creativity – and doing it publicly.  No matter if you enroll in the classes to step on the stage or if you are in the audience – you can feel that unspoken courage.  It’s in the air.  You can only feel it if you are there. It doesn’t translate through video – it’s a present moment experience. And it has the power to transform.

Our showcases are a little different each time, but we love to make an evening out of it with performances but also crafters market, socializing and dancing!  The Winter Show “Magic” happens on or near Winter Solstice (dec21), the Spring Show “Emerge” happens on or near Spring Equinox (mar21).  We usually aim for a Friday.  Check the Student Showcase tab to find out when the next one is happening!

PROFESSIONAL BAM SHOWS

Unique performances that bring “art” to entertainment to create the ‘wow’ factor custom for your event!  From classy corporate to festival vibes, our range is full spectrum. BAM aims to create every piece as a unique adventure for body, mind and soul that captures the energy of the moment.

With 20 years stage experience, BAM is backed with a rich history of performances curated for both local and international production companies including Art Spot, Bass Bus, Calgary Downtown Association, Calgary Arts Academy, Canwest Productions, Le Cirque de la Nuit, Sparq Productions, TEDx, Make Fashion, Masks International, and University District. Their shows have played on stunning local Calgary stages such as the Jack Singer Concert Hall, Grey Eagle, The Palace, cSPACE, and Bella Concert Hall; as well as mainstage features at local events such as Calgary Tattoo & Arts Festival, Circle Carnival, Diner En Blanc, Glow Fest, Northwestival, and Calgary Taboo Show. In 2019 they took a team of performers overseas for a 10 day tour in honor of the first national public art initiative in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

One of their favorite things to do is LIVE improv with talented musicians!  They’ve had the honor of taking the stage alongside celebrated artists such as William Close & The Earth Harp Collective, CloZee, Beats Antique, Sheri-D Wilson, Pumpkin, Bass Caravan, El Papachango,  ATYYA, QDUP, Drumspyder, and JPOD.
